Athletic Committee Minutes January 30, 2005 Attendance: Father Rob, Lige Hensley, Randy Schmidt, Scott Hanny, Mike Fouch, and Angie Sturm I. Opening prayer. II. Attendance III. Approval of December 19, 2004 minutes. IV. Lige reviewed the financial report with the group. Still confusion around magnets, would appear that once all magnets have been sold, the committee will profit about $54.00. There are no more funds available for anymore outside gym time, volleyballs teams will get about 1 practice per week. There is sufficient funds for the purchase of paint for the soccer field. V. New Business: > Mission Statement and Bylaws – Fr. Rob passed out a revised copy of the Mission Statement. Randy suggested adding back a statement that includes the Ath. Comm. is a ministry. This change will be made and the Mission Statement is approved. The Mission Statement will replace the pre-amble in the constitution. Fr. Rob will look into adding this statement to the next News for the Pews. Father’s vision for the future is to have a student/parent handbook for all sports. It was decided a separate meeting will be scheduled to finish the Bylaws. > Coach/Team Selection – this will be discussed at a later meeting. The group felt this didn’t need to be decided prior to spring sports but definitely prior to the end of the school year. > Spring sports sign-up – next weekend there will be sign-ups after each of the masses. Randy will be collecting all the money for track, soccer and kickball and reporting to Angie and Mark Kramer on who has signed up and paid. > Repair of field for soccer – the field is in need of repair. Fr. Rob to follow-up with Lynda Curry on whose responsibility it is to finance this repair. > Virtus Training – this will be a 3 hour training that individuals that works with the youth of the parish will required to take including all coaches and assistant coaches. There are 2 dates set already, one in Feb. and one in March. Fr. Rob will pass along the details as he learns more. VI. Old Business: > Keys – Fr. Rob passed out keys to the storage room above the concession stand. > Fundraisers – please pass on to Fr. Rob any time the Ath. Comm. has brought in money over the past year. VII. Coordinator Reports: > Boys Basketball – everyone done playing. 3 teams made it to the final 8 in their tournaments. > Uniforms – Annette and Nancy Dorsa will be having a return your basketball uniform night and will be selling the old uniforms at this time. The old shirts will be sold for $5 and the shorts for $2. > Volleyball – 148 kids on 15 teams, all have played their first game. 4 kids quit for various reasons. > Wrestling - approximately 25 kids have signed up. Wrestlers 1st thru 4th grade only paid half the registration fee($21). > Concession Stand – no issues at this time. > Gym Schedule – all home volleyball games covered except for Feb. 17th and 23rd.
