St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting Date: August 28, 2005 Time: 6:30pm Location: St. Malachy Parish Center Conference Room Attendees: Mike Arnould, Mary Ellen Loberger, Mark Conway, Bryon Meunier, Annette Vassilo, Jackie Arnouldy, Scott Hanny, Randy Schmidt, Becky Rollett, Steve Sturm and Angie Sturm Minutes: 1. Reviewed minutes from last meeting. 2. Jackie volunteered to be secretary of the committee! Thank you Jackie! 3. Baseball – Mark Conway brought a proposal to the committee to add baseball as a St. Malachy Parish sport. The committee voted and agreed to move forward. Mark will be the baseball coordinator. He has confirmation from Brownsburg schools that we could use their diamonds and the kids will purchase their own equipment. Mark will bring more information forward as the school year progresses. 4. Fall Sports Update > Football – field is ready; everyone is dressed; games start September 10th. > Kickball – 7 teams, games started on August 22nd. > Cross country – only about 10 kids running. Practices are being held at the Damler’s home. > Cheerleading – about 40 girls from grades 3 - 8. Becky and Mary Ellen requested funding for pompoms and a boom box. Total funding requested $250. Pompoms approved, waiting on confirmation from Clay before the boom box can be purchased. 5. Girls Basketball Update – 24 7th and 8th graders; 32 5th and 6th graders and 18 4th graders have signed up. Discussed not having a cadet or 5th and 6th C teams and the group agreed to only have A and B teams this year since Steve felt it would be difficult to find 8 C players. Try-outs will be held on Sept 11th and 18th from 2-8pm. 6. Financial Update – no report this meeting since Clay was unable to attend. Full report at next month’s meeting. 7. Concession Stand – Mary Arnould has volunteered to be the football concession stand coordinator and Marla Holbrook has taken girls basketball, but Teri is still in need of someone to take on this duty for boys basketball and volleyball. The first weekend of concessions will be the weekend of Sept 10th. 8. Upstairs storage repair – Randy spoke with Lynda Curry and the leak above the storage closet has been repaired. The shelves will need to be replaced before football season ends. We will table this discussion to next meeting. 9. Background checks – there is a new company that will be running the background checks. Lynda has the forms in the parish office. 10. Ritters Frozen Custard Fundraiser – this is an opportunity for a fundraiser. You have volunteers hand-out ice cream for 3 hours and the committee makes 15%. Committee voted and agreed to move forward with this. Randy will get back to Lynda and let the group know the date it will be held. 11. Walk-ins – * Website – Scott has confirmed that the website owner is back and things will start getting updated. * Country fare – if the past the Ath. Comm. has ran the coke booth in the gym, but this year, you can sign-up to work this booth along with the rest of the volunteer opportunities.
