St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting Date: October 30, 2005 Time: 6:30pm Location: St. Malachy Parish Center Conference Room Attendees: Mike Arnould, Annette Vassilo, Jackie Arnoldy, Scott Hanny, Randy Schmidt, Angie Sturm, Becky Rollett, Clay Courtney Minutes: 1. Fall and Winter Sports update: A. Boys Basketball—Registration is closed. We have 98 total players. B. Volleyball—We have 27 registered so far. (only 7 have paid). The deadline for registration is Thursday November 7th. Tryouts will start the week of November 27th. C. Wrestling—Only 3 registrations so far. D. Cheerleading—We now have 43 girls total. (18 are new) Registration of the new girls brought in $360. Three new uniforms are needed for the cadets. Becky and Annette will look into finding someone to do the SMS embroidery on the uniforms for less than has currently been quoted ($40 each). Becky is also checking with Zionsville and Westfield about receiving their used uniforms and converting them. We are still in need of a coach for the 4th grade girls. 2. Background checks—The list of coaches who have had background checks is not up to date. Randy will be checking to make sure all head coaches of basketball have checks done. Annette will talk to Lynda Curry about getting a consolidated list including parishioners who have had checks for other duties in the church. 3. St. Malachy Feast Day—The dinner will be held on November 3rd with Athletic Committee members serving drinks. Annette, Jackie, Teri (per Annette), and possibly Angie volunteered to serve drinks. 4. Ritter’s Fund Raiser—Annette will talk to Lynda Curry about changing the fund raiser to Pizza Hut since it has gotten colder. 5. New Meeting Day—The committee decided to continue meeting on Sundays. 6. Ministry Fair—Angie and Randy manned our booth. It went well. 7. Concession Stand Update—Jenny Bratton is going to be the boy’s basketball concession stand manager. We now offer granola bars as a healthier choice. 8. Financial Report—Clay brought in a Financial report in budget form. The committee reviewed and approved it. It was approved to spend $1500(each) for gym rental for both boys basketball and volleyball. 9. Gym time—There was some discussion of making a rule that the gym be doubled with two teams. It was also suggested that the cadets be doubled together for scrimmaging. Mike also requested that the gym be scheduled a month out instead of just a week. This idea was discussed but probably not possible since the availability of the Zionsville gym is not known until the last minute. 10. Pacers game—It has been approved for the 8th grade boys to play in Conseco Fieldhouse on Feb. 12. They need to sell 75 tickets. Eighth grade cheerleaders may participate also. 11. Shelf repair—Angie will talk to Bryon Meunier about fixing the shelves in the storage room.
