St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting Date: April 30, 2006 Time: 6:30pm Location: St. Malachy Parish Center Conference Room Attendees: Scott Hanny, Randy Schmidt, Angie Sturm, Clay Courtney, Teri Miller, Jackie Arnoldy, Annette Vasillo, Mike Arnould, Becky Rollett, Mark Conway Minutes: 1. Athletic Committee Prayer—Led by Teri 2. Angie announced that Father Peter’s email address is: PGallagher@Cardinalritter.org . This is the best way to contact him during the week. 3. Spring sports update— A. Track -- the first meet was rained out. We will need the track roster before the city meet. B. Kickball-- We have 4 teams and everything is going well. C. Soccer -- going well. There have been several requests for rescheduled games. D. Baseball -- Baseball is going well. They have a total of 8 games scheduled (2 home games). There was an incident at Little Flower with one of their players hitting one of our players in the knee. There were two CYO representatives at the next two games. 4. Virtus training-- Virtus training will be held at St. Malachy on May 17 from 6:30-9:00 in Noll Hall. If coaches have not received their training by July, they won’t be able to coach in Fall. Teri will email Pam Gillund about putting a message in the bulletin and coordinators will contact their coaches. 5. Green and White Gala will be held on May 15th and 16th. Members voted for Paul Whalen to receive the Kramer Award. It will be awarded at the gala. 6. Fall sports planning-- a. Sign ups will be Mother’s Day weekend. Angie will email the office to have a message put in the bulletin. Bryon and Angie will be in the narthex for sign ups on Mother’s Day weekend. b. A new coordinator is needed for Cross Country. c. New registration fees need to be determined for fall sports by May 14th. Clay will talk to coordinators to determine appropriate fees. d. Sports physicals will be given on August 17th from 4:30 to 7pm. The fee will be $10. Dr. Vicar will continue to do physicals. e. Scott will be updating fall registration forms. f. Randy will turn in fund raising application for Arts in the Park parking. 7. Summer Clinics-- a. Angie will be leading a kickball clinic. b. Mark Best will be leading a volleyball clinic. c. Steve Sturm will be leading a girls basketball clinic (open gym). d. Mike Arnould is organizing a summer basketball league for boys --registration ($30) is due May 19th, the league will meet at Cardinal Elementary on Tuesday nights from June 20th to July 25th. 6. Financial Update-- Clay brought in a printed financial report for review. The annual budget will be reviewed at a special meeting on Sunday May 6th. Clay will contact coordinators about projected expenses. Becky asked about charging for both seasons of cheerleading. Clay will determine if that is feasible. 10. Walk ins-- Teri announced that Jackie Swihart will paint a cross with a sports figure mural in the gym over the summer. Next regular meeting will be held on May 31st at 6:30pm in the Parish Conference Room.
