St. Malachy Athletic Committee
					   Meeting

Attendees:  Mike Arnould, Jackie Arnoldy, Scott Hanny,  Bryon Meunier,  Father Peter Gallagher,  Mark Conway,  Clay Courtney, Annette Vassilo, Carmen Lopez

Minutes:

1.   Prayer:   Father Peter led the group in prayer.  

2.   Budget: Clay reviewed the budget for next year.  CYO participation fees are going to be raised by $2 per participant next year.  CYO team registration fees may also be raised next year.  The committee determined registration fees for sports next year.  They will be as follows:

					Cross country	$38
					Girls basketball	$80
					Boys basketball	$80
					Girls volleyball	$90
					Wrestling		$45
					Soccer		$60
					Track			$35
					Baseball		$110
					Cheerleading		$25 (fall)

Clay will talk to Becky Rollett to determine if additional money will be collected for winter cheerleading if it is the same participants.

3.  Sports Physicals:  Sports physicals will be offered on Thursday, August 16th at the cost of $10.  Clay suggested acknowledging the doctors who volunteer their time to give the physicals at the Green and White Gala.	

4. Donations:  The Friday night volleyball league has donated $200 to the athletic program and the adult basketball league would like to donate money to the baseball program in memory of John McCracken.

5.  Fall Sport Registration:  Fall sports registrations are due on May 24th.  Scott will make a reminder to send home with the school kids as to the deadline.  Bryon will put a reminder in the bulletin.  Acceptance of late registrations was discussed and it was determined that we would like to be a little stricter on the deadline but depending on the sport, number of participants, number of teams, etc. exceptions may be made if the registration only a few days late.

6.  Sports coordinators:  The following people will be coordinators for the upcoming year:

7.  Spring softball:  Kevin’s proposal for starting a spring softball league will be discussed at the next meeting.

8.  Msgr. Busald Award:  Mike Meunier was named winner of the award.

9.  Defibrillators:  Mary Sullivan would like to purchase 2 defibrillators for the school.  She is asking the different ministries for a donation of $500 each towards the purchase of the defibrillators.   It was decided that the athletic program would donate $500 and offer to come up with the balance if she doesn’t get enough from the other ministries.

10. Possible new members:  Fourteen people indicated interest in being on the athletic committee on their stewardship cards.  

11.  Practice Field:  Mike suggested making a practice field at the location for the new church.  Father will bring this idea up to Father Dan.
