Athletic Committee Meeting Minutes 
June 4, 2007

Attendees:  Mike Arnould, Clay Courtney, Kevin Thomas, Scott Hanny, Terri Fech, Bryon Meunier

The committee discussed Fr. Peter leaving the committee due to reassignment to a new parish.  It was decided that Scott Hanny will contact Fr. Peter to collect the following information before Fr. Peter’s reassignment:
* Any people who have shown interested in serving on the Athletic Committee.
* The information on which volunteers have completed Virtus training.
* Persons who have undergone background checks.

The replacement of committee members was discussed, with the resignation of Jackie Arnoldy and Fr. Peter’s reassignment.  The positions of Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director and Secretary are open.  Mention of Carmen Lopez missing the last two meetings was mentioned.  Scott Hanny to contact Carmen to determine, if there are any issues.

The Arts in the Park fundraiser is being coordinated by Clay, Mike and Bryon.  Bryon will get in contact with the KoC, for equipment and volunteers.

The Committee began working through all the tasks and position within the Committee and will be trying to assign tasks to responsible parties.  Coordinators for Cross Country, Girls’ Basketball, Baseball and possibly Track are needed.  It was decided that a Cross Country Coordinator was not of immediate concern due to the small volume of athletes.  Kevin Thomas will talk to Tom Gliva about coordinating Girls’ Basketball.  The other Coordinators will be discussed at a future date.  The position of Registrar, to coordinate all sports for a season, was discussed, but no final decision was made.

Kevin Thomas has conducted a survey of interest in Cadet level fast pitch Softball.  17 to 20 girls have shown interest.  Kevin will continue to explore costs and field availability and report back to the Committee.

July 16th is the registration deadline with the CYO for Football, Cross Country and Kickball.  The deadline for Girls’ Basketball is August 31st.

Voting membership was discussed.  After a vote, Terri Fech was made a voting member.  There was a debate of whether Annette Vassilo is a voting member or not.  She will be asked what she thinks her voting status is.  Mike Arnould will be acting as interim Athletic Director, after Father Peter’s departure.

The question was asked, if anyone keeps copies of the physical forms.  This is unknown and will be investigated.

Clay Courtney will work on the finalizing the unapproved Bylaws.

The next meeting will be Monday June 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the parish conference room.
