St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting

Parish Conference Center

Attendees:  Mike Arnould, Kevin Thomas, Scott Hanny, Tom O’Leary, Randy Schmidt, Annette Vassillo

Minutes:

The previous meeting minutes were accepted.

New Committee Member:  
Tom O’Leary, one of the new committee members was present for his first meeting..

Upcoming Events:  

Football Conditioning Camp will be occurring Wed. August 1st, Thurs. August 2nd, Mon. Aug. 6th, Wed. Aug. 8th and Thurs. Aug. 9th from 6 – 7 p.m.  The fee for the camp will remain at $20.  Last year’s attendance was approximately 100.  This year’s attendance is expected to be similar.

Football Equipment Handout will be occurring on Sunday Aug. 5th from 6 – 8 p.m. 

Physicals will be held Thursday August 16th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.  Physical fees will be $10.

Kickball Evaluations will be held as follows:
4th Grade – Tuesday July 31st from 6 – 8 p.m.
5th and 6th Grades – Wednesday August 1st from 6 – 8 p.m.
7th and 8th Grades – Thursday August 2nd from 6 – 8 p.m.

The first Kickball game will be August 20th.  The Kickball teams will most likely be broken down into the following teams:
1 - Cadet A
1 - Cadet B
1 - 5th and 6th A
2 - 5th and 6th B
1 or 2 - 4th

Sports:

Girl’s Basketball will be coordinated by Clay in the interim.  We are looking for possible coordinators.  Mike will contact Jill Schrack and then Kathy Walton to see if they have an interest in coordinating the sport.

Cheerleading for all grades of football have been arranged.

Kickball – Kevin will check with Terri to see if the shirts are on order.  If not, Annette can get them through Northstar Promotions, if desired.

Concession Stand:

Randy is cleaning the concession stand in preparation of the season opening.  He will be stocking food and Coke supplies.  He will need to get a petty cash fund started.  A team mom needs to be contacted to coordinate the Football concession stand schedule.  Mike will talk to his wife as the potential team mom.

Arts in the Park:

Arts in the Park took in roughly $1500.  There was a  shortfall of help.

Sports Physical Coordinator:

Annette Vassilo will be the Sports Physical Coordinator.

Registrar:

Bobbie Hanny will be the Sports Registrar.

New website:

It was suggested that Scott send a flyer to the school at the beginning of the school year letting students know what the address for the new website is.   www.stmalachyathletics.org.

Car Wash:

The car wash on July 28th went well.  No final figure for amount of money raised was available.

Football Jamboree:

It was discussed and voted on.  Approximately $400 will be taken from the money raised by the Football Conditioning Camp and used to pay for the Football Jamboree.

KOC Soccer Shootout:

Randy is trying to coordinate a Knights of Columbus Soccer Shootout with Bryon Meunier and Terri Fech.

Girl’s Softball:

Kevin Thomas has continued to investigate the possibility of starting up Girl’s Softball.  He has as of yet had no luck getting and softball field availability.

Next Meeting:
The next meeting will by Sunday August 26th at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room.
