St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting July 27, 2008 7:00 p.m. Parish Conference Center Attendees: Mike Arnould , Jim Yetter, Scott Hanny, Randy Schmidt, Tom O'Leary, Sister Barbara, Clay Courtney, Kevin Thomas The previous meetings minutes were approved. Treasurer's Report We're good. CYO All coaches need to be registered on-line. Kickball coaches have not yet been selected. Pastoral Associate's Report Sister Barbara is still working on a gym use statement, but we may have to table the document and use common sense. Concessions Candy is going up from 75 cents to a dollar. We have a new Coke contract. 63 cents per bottle of water will be the cost. 83 cents per bottle of powerade will be the cost. We will keep the price of water to 1 dollar. Coke will be giving a $800 rebate which will be applied toward concession stand refurbs. John Poole is in charge of the refurbishment and suggestions are being taken for how to improve the concession stand. Rand is suggesting a cheese dispenser. Motion was made and approved to purchase a refurbished cheese dispenser for $200, withing dipping into the $800. Registrar There are currently 44 cheerleading, 12 cross country, 67 kickball, 89 football and 61 girls' basketball registrations. Sports Updates- Football: Camp will begin July 28th. We have the new football equipment. Still awaiting the helmet decals. Jim will be getting practice jerseys fro $10 each, to give out at camp. This will be offset by the $20 fee. Girls' Basketball: Evaluations are August 24th, but this is waiting to be confirmed by Terri Fech. Sept 4th is the CYO deadline for entering the number of teams. Cheerleading: Tuesday night the uniforms will be handed out. Cross Country: Checking to see if Marie Damler will be coaching. Virtus Training: No St. Malachy training is scheduled at this time. Calendar of Events: August 5th – Second set of kickball evaluations August 7th – Football and kickball coaches meeting August 11th – First football practice August 12th – Physicals August 13th – First pad football practice August 20th – First day of school August 23rd – St. Michael's football jamboree Arts in the Park cleared approximately $503. New Business: New church dedication will be delayed after November 3rd. Various date are being decided on. Upcoming fall coordinators and coaches need to confirm that they have codes for entry into Noll hall. Board Items: There was a discussion about uniform replacements. Motion was made to outfit the 5th and 6th grade football teams with outfits and helmets for a total of 35 sets. This was voted on and approved. We will have Mike Zimmerman look into the replacement cost of uniforms for Track. We will be establishing a set of girl's basketball uniforms separate from boys basketball uniforms. Mike will be putting an announcement into the bulletin for the open committee seat. We will discuss candidates at the next meeting. Next Meeting: The next meeting will by Sunday August 31st at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room. Future meeting will be the last Sunday of each month except for March 22, 2009.
