St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting September 28, 2008 7:00 p.m. Parish Conference Center Attendees: Mike Arnould, Tom O'Leary, Clay Courtney, Sister Barbara Reder, Scott Hanny, Tom Gliva, Kevin Thomas, Kathy Walton The previous meetings minutes were approved. Pastoral Associate's Report There is a scheduling conflict between the Diocese and St. Malachy about getting new Virtus training sessions scheduled. No luck so far. Concessions We are selling hot dogs like there is no tomorrow. We will be hosting a football play off game and the concession schedule need to be made. There was some problems with the Coke machine quality this weekend. Registrar Kickball has 3 outstanding physicals. Cross Country has 2 outstanding physicals, registrations and fees. Girls' basketball has 4 outstanding physicals, 1 unpaid fee and registration. Boys' Basketball has 58 players as of Friday's deadline. Cross Country has 24 runner and Girls' Basketball has 66 players. Sports Updates- Kikckball: The season is complete Football: We are half way through the season. 3rd and 4th grade is struggling. 5th grade is 4 – 0. 6th grade is 1 – 3. Cadets are 2 – 2. Girls' Basketball: Nancy Dorsa will be handing out uniforms. Games start on Oct. 11th. On-line roster are complete. Cheerleading: Pictures were taken last Wednesday as well as the football teams. Cross Country: The City meet is October 11th. 5/6 has a good chance to win their bracket. Boys' Basketball: 58 players so far. Girls' Volleyball: Need to update the website. The evaluations at Noll hall are scheduled for November 16th from 4 – 8 p.m. And November 18th form 5 – 9 p.m. Girls' Volleyball: Clay will contact Brownsburg schools to see if there is a possibility of getting wrestling time at their facilities. Virtus Training: No St. Malachy training is scheduled at this time. Website: Need to update Volleyball page and others. Form links on each sport's page would be good. Calendar of Events: Ministry Fair will be on the weekend of October 25 and 26. The St. Malachy dedication is December 16, 2008. No team games will be scheduled that day and there will be no practices. Old Business: Men's Basketball has the 8-10 slot on Sunday evening. Sister Barbara will follow up on this. New Business: Mike Water is suggesting a number of fund raising options. Running the West Side KOC Bingo event once a quarter would be a good option. Also suggesting getting sponsorship and placing a banner of the sponsors in the gym. Kevin Thomas would like to look into starting up CYO High School sports and St. Malachy such as Girls' and Boys' Basketball and Girls' Volleyball. Board Items: The B team selection process was discussed, whether the B teams should be balanced or separated by skill groups. AC member gym coverage for Girls' Basketball will be circulated by Clay. Next Meeting: The next meeting will by Sunday October 26th at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room.
