Bernie Price is celebrating her 35th anniversary at the CYO on December 3rd. The AC will send flowers. The CYO sent out a letter asking from improvement suggestions on the new online registration. Concessions Things are going well. Randy is thinking about stepping down from concession management after the end of the year. Registrar 88 boys are registered for Basketball with 1 missing registration. 106 are registered for Volleyball with 3 missing registrations. There are 5 boys signed up from Wrestling so far. Sports Updates- Boys' Basketball: One team is down to 6 players due to injuries. David is looking to recruit for the team. David has time keepers set up for a majority of the games and will be circulating the gym coverage schedule. Girls' Volleyball: Teams have finished evaluation and the rosters have been posted as of last Sunday. There four 4th grade teams, six 5/6 teams and four Cadet teams. There are new nets that need to be set up slightly different. Also there will be a coaches training session with Mark Best leading. Girls' Volleyball: Clay will contact Brownsburg schools to see if there is a possibility of getting wrestling time at their facilities. Wrestling: Announcement will be made at school and in the bulletin. Unknown at this time if we will be buying wrestling uniforms this year. Clay checked with the Brownsburg schools. They have no gym time availability for us to use. We also received a letter from the CYO. For dual meets, a parish must be able to fill all 8 of the weight slots. If they can not fill all the slots, they must group up with another parish. Spring Kickball: Terri has made mention that she may not want to be the coordinator. Track: Mike Zimmerman will still be the coordinator. Soccer: Randy will continue as the coordinator. The goals need to either be fixed or replaced. Randy will check to see if there are any parishioners that can do welding repairs. Softball: Kevin will continue to coordinate. He will look for locales other than Pittsboro, since they only had limited availability. Kevin may allow 6th grader to play Cadet level, if there is a shortage of participants. Virtus Training: Boys Basketball has one coach not trained, but he is scheduled for training. Website: Volleyball rosters are online. Calendar of Events: The St. Malachy dedication is December 16, 2008. New Business: David Fideledey is interested in starting a martial arts program, if St. Malachy is interested. David has started a number of programs at churches and YMCAs. David has 38 years of experience in martial arts. Typically the need is for floor space, followed by mats, followed by a heavy bag. Students typically provide their own protective equipment. David schedules meets through his contacts and avoids the highly competitive meets. The AC thought this was a good idea, but is concerned about space availability in the winter. Sister Barbara will talk to Linda Curry about liability and space limitations. The gym banner for Chess needs to be updated. Board Items: David Bratton will be circulating the gym coverage sheet for Boys’ Basketball. Kevin Rolling is a potential Baseball coordinator and coach. The sport coordinators will make the decision on where to place an injured player, if they can not attend evaluations, on a case by case basis. The AC will be ordering St. Malachy shirts. Clay will be sending out an e-mail. The price will be approximately $25. David will be recruiting to fill the 6 person Boys’ Basketball team. Yearbook photos for non-school kids was discussed. The coordinator for each sport will be responsible for getting the team photos. For Boys’ Basketball David Bratton plans on telling the teams to get a digital photo taken when all the players are there. No girls’ uniforms for Basketball will be ordered this year. Clay says the suppliers are not very responsive. Another problem is that the companies will not guarantee the same uniform over various years. Next Meeting: The next meeting will by Sunday December 28th at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room.
