St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting March 22, 2009 7:00 p.m. Parish Conference Center Attendees: Mike Arnould, Bryon Meunier, Sister Barbara, Tom O’Leary, Scott Hanny, Randy Schmidt, Kevin Thomas, Kathy Walton, David Bratton, Tom Gliva, Lorraine Flehr The previous meeting minutes were approved. Pastoral Associate's Report Keyless entry numbers have been reset. The number of codes are being reduced because of the kids trying random number combinations, until something works. Renee is trying to get a Virtus training session, at St. Malachy for May. CYO Correspondence The CYO will be increasing team fees $1 per person. Concessions Randy will close out the petty cash and only have enough money for the cash box. Registrar Baseball has 12 registered. Soccer has 79 registered. 4 are unpaid. Softball has 12 registered. Kickball has 30 registered. 1 is unpaid Track has 35 registered/ Sports Updates- Boys’ Basketball: Sean Wilkinson has expressed interest in coordinating with David. David would like to step down, after next year. David is still trying to collect the remaining uniforms. Girls' Volleyball: Two teams made finals. The 56B team wan the finals. Kevin will look into medal or trophies, but must keep under the CYO limit. Wrestling: Ryan Rodger won city on March 21st. Kickball: There are 2 5/6 teams and 1 4th grade team. Track: Mike Zimmerman will be the coordinator. Soccer: Practices have started. We have the new goals. Randy is going to keep the old goals for the KOC soccer challenges. Softball: Practices have started. Tri-West has given us 3 days a week for practice and they will be our home fields. Virtus Training: Mike has all the coaches names into Renee. Website: Nothing new. Calendar of Events: May 11th and 12th will be the Green & White Gala. Old Business: Randy has had a field repair day already. Approximately 12 men and 12 kids were involved. No action has bee made with giving away the old volleyballs, etc. to St. Joan of Arc. Mike to talk to David Fiedeldey about Martial Arts. Yearbook team photos still being taken. Baseball and Track will be using Brownsburg facilities on Friday and Sunday. New Business: Linda Curry has money set aside for the concession stand remodeling. She will put the plan to the interested parties. There will probably be stainless steel cabinets installed, the stove removed and replacing the coke machine with a beverage cooler. A survey was done for volleyball. We may be utilizing something similar for all Spring Sports. The volleyball banner is out for update. Kramer Award nominees are Mark Meunier, Mike Waters, Nancy Dorsa. Eight grade to use the coke machine for free for the graduation party. The need to bring their own cups. Board Items: The volleyball survey had a 52% response rate. The responses were overall positive with some criticisms. The survey was run through SurveyMonkey. A motion was made for surveys being made at the end of each sport season, until the end of next year spring sports. The motion was passed. A motion was made to have a 1 year subscription to SurveyMonkey at $200. The motion was passed. Kevin will be the survey coordinator. The Kramer Award recipient was voted on. May 3rd will be confirmation at the Lucas Oil Stadium. April 13th will be the City meet for track. We will be voting for new AC Members in May. There are four seats up for new membership. Mike Arnould, Kevin Thomas, Clay Courtney and David Bratton. Mike put an announcement in the bulletin. Next Meeting: The next meeting will by Sunday April 26th at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room.
