St. Malachy Athletic Committee Meeting April 26, 2009 7:00 p.m. Parish Conference Center Attendees: Mike Arnould, Tom O’Leary, Jim Yetter, Clay Courtney, Kevin Thomas, Kathy Walton, David Bratton, Scott Hanny The previous meeting minutes were approved. Treasurer's Report Nothing unusual to report. CYO Correspondence The CYO will be holding the 1st Annual Ladies Golf Outing. It was decided that the committee would no sponsor a hole for $50. Concessions Randy sent an e-mail to Mike Arnould with the final year information and is ready to transfer duties to Lorraine Flehr. Sports Updates- Kickball: Terri Fech sent an e-mail to Mike about having evaluations right after this school year gets out. The Athletic Committee decided that evaluations will wait until later, some time in August. Boys’ Baseball: The team lost two players and is down to 10. The remaining 10 are getting a lot of play time. Football: Jim Yetter reported on possibly having a summer long once a week clinic to work on skills. Jim checked the CYO rules to find out the limitation of what could be worked on. The Athletic Committee decided it was OK to move forward with this at no cost. Possibly pick a night other than Sunday. Cheerleading: Mike received an e-mail about the upcoming season, summer camp and new uniforms. Also asked for a quote for the budget for uniforms, from the coordinator. The deadline for Fall Sports registration is being set to May 29th. The weekend of May 4th the registrations will be set to the school and placed on-line. An ad will be placed in the bulletin also. Summer Sports Camps- Cheerleading: Will have a summer camp. Unscheduled as of yet. Volleyball: Kevin Thomas to meet with Mark Best about summer plans and possible intramural teams for the summer. Girls’ Basketball: Clay is planning to do the same as last summer and has some response from Brownsburg schools. Boys’ Basketball: Will be trying to have gym time as Brownsburg schools scheduled. Football: Will have the regular football clinic two weeks before school starts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Virtus Training: There will be training at the new church on May 12th from 6:30 – 8:30 and May 13th from 6:00 – 8:00. Website: The At-Large committee member description is on the website and registrations will be added. Calendar of Events: May 11th and 12th will be the Green & White Gala. July 18th from 8:00 – 3:00 is the Festival of Arts. Old Business: Kevin is still trying to get in touch with the St. Joan of Arc parish to give them some used volleyball equipment. Tom O’ Leary will talk to David Fideldey about the proposed Martial Arts program. Tom Zupansic won the Monsignor Busald Award and Byron Woods won the Spirit of Youth Award. The awards will be presented on May 6th. New Business: Noll Hall time request for June 2009 to May 2010 was entered by Terri Fech as soon as she got the information together. This was only a few days after Pam let it be known that the schedule was to be entered. Board Items: The 2010 Budget was approved as presented by Clay, with a change in the Wrestling Fee to $50 and moving the Track uniform purchase from 2009 to 2010. Coordinators for Next School Year will be: Fall Sports: Football – Jim Yetter Girls’ Basketball – Clay Courtney Cheerleading – Mary Ellen Loberger Kickball – provisionally Terri Fech. She may be moving. Kevin Thomas volunteered to step in, if required. Cross Country – Marie Damler Winter Sports: Volleyball – Kevin and Susan Thomas Boys’ Basketball – Kathy Walton and David Bratton Wrestling – Chris Kaiser and Bryon Meunier Spring Sports: Soccer – Kathy Walton and Ralph Boberg Kickball – see above Baseball – Kevin Rollins Softball – Kevin Thomas Track – unknown. Liz Masalla and Julie Anderson were suggested as interested parties. Next Meeting: The next meeting will by Sunday May 29th at 7:00 pm at the parish conference room.
